What's Your Vibe?

Most people don't decorate in just one style (sorry, Carol Brady). But everyone has at least one vibe - an aesthetic tendency - that provides a sense of continuity throughout their home. bluGloss designers reviewed the many style categories on the market today and developed the following categories – pick the ones that most appeal to you and you’ll have a better sense of your vibe (or vibes). Style selection made simple.

The Establishment

Classic, luxurious, understated. In other words, the exact opposite of Snooki. You prefer a more formal presentation and you bask in the comfort of an overstuffed chair. You admire the restrained use of ornate detailing and are drawn to dark wood and heavy metals. Add rich colors, gentle curves, and a pinch of no-fuss, and you’re ready to announce your bid for the presidency (you don’t even need to get off the couch).

Modern Retro

Uncomplicated, innovative, simplicity. We hesitate to mention Don Draper lest we lose you to day dreaming (who are we kidding; we were looking for a reason to mention him). This look is Mad Men inspired but includes current contemporary looks. Modern Retro is typified by clean lines, minimal curves, and pieces crafted from materials like metal, plastic, and lucite. In your Modern Retro home, clutter-free spaces showcase a few, exquisite pieces.  Modern Retro is no-fuss on steroids. So mix yourself a martini, surround yourself with bright colors or a stark palette, and you are ready to lounge on your snazzy couch with your life-size DD cardboard cut-out (or borrow ours).

Global Fusion

Exotic, textured, vivid. Why hurry around the world in 80 days, when you can live an exotic life all year around? You love pieces that tell stories, whether the stories reflect your own well-traveled life, or embody the cultures you have embraced simply through the pieces you have found. Turkish rugs, African art, Islamic vases, and Asian-inspired furniture blend seamlessly with exotic textiles in your home. You embrace a full house, but appreciate a restraint that stops short of feeling packed to the brim. You can ditch your astral projection practice…Global Fusion will take you back to where you’ve been and to where you want to go, all from the comfort of your own home.

Refined Rustic

Savvy, resourceful, refined. “Some Pig” goes uptown with this elegant, yet homey, style.  You yearn for the charm and character of pieces with a country influence, but want to ditch the kitsch. You weave your web with vintage and repurposed pieces, worn materials, as well as natural shades and colors.  Your pieces are highly practical in function, but maintain a sophistication that make them equally appropriate for city living.  For you, the combination of an old harvest table and stainless steel appliances is simultaneously “Terrific” and “Radiant”.  And masterminded by a very “Humble” you.

Transitional Chic

Timeless, adaptable, sophistication. He loves me, he loves me not. Who cares? It’s your turn to own the middle ground. You love a casual, more laid-back home that features soft lines and rounded profiles. A palette of neutral colors make it easy to complement your furnishings with accents of a variety of patterns and colors. You’d prefer to pair a textured chenille with a sleek wood frame, rather than with ornate carved legs. And you’re not afraid to skirt an otherwise contemporary sofa. You want the best of both worlds; a home where the establishment and retro crowds can comfortably co-exist. It’s the marriage of convenience you never knew could be so fulfilling.

Hollywood Glam

Bright, shiny, luxe. Ah, to live in the digs of Marilyn Monroe. You love bold colors, shiny finishes, lacquered pieces, fringe, velvet, and the copious use of mirrors on furniture and walls (we didn’t say anything about ceilings). But you favor Hollywood Glam not just for its overtones of glitz and glamour. Rather, you know that the beauty of this design is the way it emphasizes the people who inhabit it. Small scale furniture that fades into the background, chandeliers with dangling crystals, silk lampshades, and thick, sculpted carpets all converge to set the stage and showcase the very fabulous you.
